oday 22 on trailer Asheville NC
I trail a 79 O'day 22 from Asheville NC. Last year May 2008 done a one night anchor out by Cayo Casta island on Charlotte Harbor out from Riviera Marina, on Alligator Creek, Punta Gorda, my friend Frank who lives in PG crewed with me. That was my first venture out all night and loved it and was a great sailing day and then a tussle with a mean high tide going out Boca Grande Pass. I would like to sail in company with some one or more there again sometime during first half of 2010 and perhaps make our way down to Big Pine Key where my sister-in-law lives on sailboat water.

Hi Dave.....I recently sent you an e mail. I may be interested in joining you with my 1993 Hunter 23.5 after the holidays.
I love that part of Florida.I would love to find a place to stay each winter in that area beside being on the hook.
I lived in Panama City for about five yrs.

Hey Mark.My browser wouldn't let me open your email.Said source was unverifiable.I was thinking the very first of the year for a trip. never having sailed in the area, is this a good or bad time? I don't mind some rough conditions but don't want to be there at a really bad time. 3-4 wks destination optional.

Hi Dave.... check out Charlotte Harbor State park florida on IE.Its an area near Ft Myers/Punta Gorda. Its about twenty hour drive for me pulling my boat. I never sailed when I lioved in Fl but did travel a lot to the Ft Myers area. There are hundreds of islands around this area.
The weather down there today was 75degrees and sunny at Naples very near this same area..Soooo nice compaired to home 40degrees right now.brrrrrr..lol....
Sharing a cabin ( up to six people per cabin), or camping grounds are available there. It would be nice if we could get several others to go.Im talking to one of my friends now. He has a good amount of sailing experience and a kayaka also.
I just was re reading the past post and see your profile states your from the state of Tn. That being the case we could possiibly hook up in the Memphis area and travel as a sailboat caravan to Fl.? Please advise.
I will be taking my kayak with me. It serves as a dingy too. There is some awesome fishig around the mangrove coves.Shallow, warm, and full of fish.
As I remember the winter months of Fl are rainy too. Of course Fl always has a lot of rain days, but five minutes after it rains. The sun comes out and you wouold never know it rained..lol
Im thinking of staying three to eight weeks..I need to pack my whell bearing and put a set of new tires on the trailer before going to far. Good rubber for a long trip like this is a must.;)
Let me hear from you. I would be interested in leaving home sometime after hoilidays. My B day is New Years eve...;)

Don't worry about rain...other than tonight. Winter is the time to sail in Fla. Plenty of great sailing inside that area; no need to go offshore. Go to Cabbage Key, eat a burger, and put a dollar on the wall next to mine.
