That is clever, though I might be a bit concerned about someone leaning on it or falling into it and bending it.
When we had our 23.5, we stowed the boat hook aft of the galley sink in that open storage locker, along with the gin pole & whisker pole.

Nice! West Marine also makes stanchion chocks for boat hooks. I find that very handy securely attached on the foredeck stanchions for the long one I like to leave for the person handling bow lines
