Lots of variables impacting the results. Less wind after the initial few days meant that rail meat wasn't as big a factor as it can be. That also made the autopilots more effective since the waves were smaller.There will be a lot of noise about the benefit of autopilots after this dominant performance by the two handers. I am of the opinion that letting all boats use pilots is the only solution to this issue.
Another causal element is the Time on Time handicap system. The upwind nature of much of the race caused it to take longer which modifies the results by the TOT.
