I called Torresen. They had shocking news for me and others that have called them regarding transmission "oil". the woman there that was giving advice for the last so many days weeks has been telling everyone that uses transmission oil in their transmissions to use the same oil as they do in the engine.....15W-40 or 30 depending. Well, the mechanic just told her today she was wrong. She should have been telling everyone that has been calling her for advice on transmission oil to use a strait 20 or 30 wt. oil. Hehehehe. She said she has a lot of phone calls to make now as a result. So, if anyone received advice from Torrensen to use the 15W-30 or 40 wt in the transmission, use the strait 20 or 30 instead.....That is if you have a Kanzaki transmission. If you have a Hurth Transmission, use the Automatic Transmission Fluid. Hope I am a help to all Hunter Owners Marina

2qm20(H) -H for Hurth - uses Auto Trans Fluid
if you have a old Hunter, double check to see if you have the Hurth transmission. If so, use the right stuff. The engine manual has both Kanzaki and Hurth instructions (guess which one comes at the front of the chapter).

I did it! Done...Finished. And I learned a lot
O.K., I just got back from changing the oil in my engine. I cleaned the oil filter too. It turned out that cleaning the oil filter was very easy. Now that I took it out and inspected it, I found that it is very simple. I found it was best to clean it with break cleaner and a rag. It looks like hundreds of washers put together with metal scrapers between each one. There were a lot of metal shards in there. I suppose they have been there since the engine was broke in years ago. As the person said at Torresen, you can re-use the gasket. It turned out that there was no gasket so to speak but rather an "O" Ring. While I had them on the phone, I ordered a Service Manual for my motor and a parts list catalog $$$$. They should prove to make things a lot easier on me. As Fred Hinted ever so Politely, one can find out a lot from the service manual. But there is also much to learn from the manufacture and or suppliers. Their hands on advice is much better than any manual can ever provide. I have personally found that just diving into the work is often beneficial. Now that I have done it, I can now check this one off as one less thing I have to figure out. Also, I placed the antifreeze in the system. I am all ready for winter. Well, almost ready any way. Now I can sit back with a good book and a cup of hot cocoa and relax tonight. Marina

O.K., here is what we all decided. So, if you use oil in your transmission, do not go with the strait 30 or 40. But instead go with the 10W-30 or 10W-40. Now don't use just any 10W40 or 10w_30. Use the ones that are designed for Diesel Engines such as "Rotella" Marina
