Impeller replacement

I have a Model 26M, Yanmar 18 Horse Diesel engine and I need to know how to replace the impeller. Where is the water pump located. Any help would be appreciated.

The water pump is on the front of the engine. It is on the lower belt. You will need to release the belt and remove the bolt that holds the pump. When you turn it around there are 4 screws secure the cover. Once you get it replaced, just reverse the process.

You may also want to consider a SpeedSeal. It makes R/R of the impeller easier, especially if you need to replace it quickly. The new SpeedSeal also has a teflon insert so your impellers will last longer.

I would suggest that you purchase a Yanmar GM service manual.

Lower left hand side of the front of the engine. As previously noted, the cover of the pump is facing the engine, so you need to remove the mounting bolts that hold the pump to the engine block. Then you can follow the detailed procedure provided by the other poster.
