I'm selling the boat

I signed a listing agreement today to sell Jack's Place. It was both difficult and somewhat exciting. My basic reason for this is to find a boat that can be competitive in local racing. Several are under consideration. Realistically, the boat that finally gets the nod will not be a Hunter. This is nothing negative, just a fact. Hunters are not race boats. I want to enter a race on an even playing field in the lighter air waters of Southern California. Anyway, JP will not be cheap. This is a fabulous boat with well documented upgrades and needs to command a fair price that reflects her value. She'll be extensively advertised. If anyone is interested, give Carl Mischka a call at 949-500-7261. John Richard s/v Jack's Place

You've finally reached the conclusion that I have been preaching. Hunters are fine as cruisers, but the newer no backstay B&R rigs and roller furled mains are simply not competative on the race course. A floating condo with all its amenities cannot compete with a boat that can go to weather then turn and run downwind with speed. However, you are going to run into one HUGE problem with your next boat, enough knowledgeable, competent crew that show up for the races. The downside of having a fast boat with a rating to match, is that it requires a good crew to make the boat perform to its potential. Best of luck.

Disagree PHRF shaft

I modestly disagree mates. Last year we bested the fleet with a 29.5 and this year we repeated with a 340 (except for that rule 32.2 item which is still a matter of protest). Problem is that either that "race" boats are getting a high enough PHRF or the Hunter fleet is getting over taxed!
