That's striper, not "stripper". It doesn't pay as well and it is waaayy too much work. I just hope the new stripes last as long as the old ones(26 years). The originals were only slightly faded but had taken their share of dock and piling gouges over the years. From previous owners of course. These are 3M stripes and patience is the key. The orignals came off with "The Eraser", a 4 inch diameter wheel that fits in your drill. It is available from any auto paint store.I thought I could see enough of the original outline to use as a guide. To be sure I used blue tape and ran it the length of the boat. I stepped back every four to six feet to be sure I was getting a nice straight line. Then I applied the striping tape against the bottom of the blue tape. It was very tedious, took about two hours to do 37 feet. Fortunately you can lift and reseat if you miss your line or get bubbles. Then I made a huge error. I tried taking off the top film before the adhesive had set. The very narrow bottom stripe lifted off in the first six inches. You see there are actually five stripes. A clear vinyl film keeps them together so that you can apply as one wide strip of vinyl. But then the film is removed to leave five very shiny and, hopefully, long lasting stripes. So I will have to piece in one six inch piece of vinyl stripe. It does not "restick".
