I love Ikea! I put it together for university students each fall. I also install there kitchens for people that all of a sudden get overwhelmed by the wordless instructions.
I think is a pretty neat looking contemporary design. I'm not sure of the open back design. Could mean a wet cabin. It would be a nice boat for a couple or small family.
I think it would be nicer if it had an aft bunk. Maybe even a water ballist and daggerboard. On a trailer to boot. (it kind of looks like the Mac 26X design inside)

Note the engine is on the options list. Also I wonder if the "Bimini" is removable?

Could you imagine trying to keep the water spots off the bimini?

Those spilned dowels swell up when they get wet. Makes for a tighter fit.
My guys call the universal tool that comes with all the Ikea stuff a monkey grinder.

If Ikea built a sailboat, it would be Swedish. This thing is not Swedish. Even with the splined dowels all swelled up, it looks like a canal boat with a height problem. Dual 18" wheels?

Noticed the differential between the Euros and the USD price. Must be due to the VAT in Europe, which they (and you) don't have to pay if the boat's exported?

If IKEA made a boat, you'd have to buy all the bits separately - hull (FLOT), deck/superstructure (KABINN), interior finishing (what else... BILLY shelving), plumbing (HEDD), choice of wheel (KAPITAN) or tiller (BOTSTIK) steering, choice of rig packages (KRUSYR or ZUUM), lifelines and stanchions (DONFALL)...

Assembly would be challenging, but the only tool necessary is be a 6 mm hexkey. That's a given.

I think you've been spending too much time at IKEA on the weekends over the winter...... ;) You need to get out on Lake Ontario to clear your mind and set it straight again..... :D

My wife pointed out that the sails would only come in funky colors and patterns.
