Idle speed

New owner of a 95 270. Broker adjusted the throttle cable so it would not creep back but I have the feeling the idle may now be too high. Oddly, I did not see anything in the manual on this. Any comments on the proper idle RPM?Thanks!

What kind of Engine?

If you have an Atomic 4 Gas Engine, the RPM at idle should be 800 RPM out of gear, 700 Rpm in gear. Don't know about a diesel engine Hope this helps!

1800 is way to high.

Idle speed is not an exact science, but 1800 would eventually wear the transmission. 700-1000 rpm would be normal. You want it high enough to keep the engine from excessive laboring in gear at idle.
