New owner of a 95 270. Broker adjusted the throttle cable so it would not creep back but I have the feeling the idle may now be too high. Oddly, I did not see anything in the manual on this. Any comments on the proper idle RPM? Thanks!

What kind of Engine?

If you have an Atomic 4 Gas Engine, the RPM at idle should be 800 RPM out of gear, 700 Rpm in gear. Don't know about a diesel engine Hope this helps!

Thanks for trying though. Current idle is around 1800 rpm.

1800 is way to high.

Idle speed is not an exact science, but 1800 would eventually wear the transmission. 700-1000 rpm would be normal. You want it high enough to keep the engine from excessive laboring in gear at idle.
