Put a fan up on ny 26. wired it to a cig lighter plug for ease of installation and not having to tap any lines. It wasn't putting any air out. It would turn but no forward air. After looking at it for awhile I saw WOW! it's running backwards! Reversed the wires and it now works great!

Been there...

We bought a fan that ran backwards once. The Fix - turn it around.

Got that t-shirt too....

I had one of those fans that ran backwards... turned out i put the batt clamps on the wrong post. Good thing i checked i was almost on my way to return it :) On the other hand i bought a small battery maintenance charger... i connected it the way it the cables were labled... + to + - to -. when i tried it out it didnt work. So i took it back to the store for exchange. Well when i put the new one in.. same thing, didnt work. Turned out the cables were labled backwards so it was hooked up reverse polarity-- i switched the wires and now it works great. oh well....

John, Did the same thing 2 weekends ago. I realized the leads had to be changed DUHHHH. What I did was didn't check my battery charge and left that fan on all night so we'd be comfortable. Woke up to a different sound coming from the fan. Realized something was wrong. Couldn't start the outboard with the electric starter.Had to hand crank her over. HAd just enough juice left in the batteries to run the instruments. Where did you get the fan? Is yours installed? If so where did you put it? Paul H S/V Linda Belle 95 H26

fan location

I put the fan next to the v berth curtains on the starboard side almost to the top of the side. I got it from Boat Us for about twenty dollars. I used a cig plug with a twenty foot cord so I did not have to hard wire it and could reach the plug on the bulkhead next to the power switches as well as the one under the table
