Is there somewhere a pictorial or other resource that will allow one to properly identify the model (maker I already know) of the head on my boat. I know its a Raritan and think its the Compact I, but I am not sure. Beyond that assuming I am right is the pump assembly form the newer Compact II interchangable?

That would help in securing parts for a rebuild.

You can check it against a photo on the Raritan website

Go here: http://www.raritaneng.com/tech_support/i_d_your_head.html

Scroll down to find discontinued toilets.

Fwiw, the original Compact was discontinued more than 15 years ago in favor of the Compact II...Raritan discontinued the CP II at the end of last year. Repair kits are still available for both. However, if yours is the original compact, I'd think long and hard about putting ANY money into it...'cuz 10-12 years is about the max useful lifespan of even the best compact toilet. So I'd think seriously about replacing it with the PHC, which is now Raritan's only compact manual toilet.

If it turns out that it's not a Raritan after all, I can ID it for you if you'll post a photo.

Will be a few days till I can get aboard and take a couple of pictures of it. Unfortunately shots of the head were never high on my list of boat photos so don't have any existing at this point. Many thanks.

Just went to the Raritan Site and there is no question from description that the unit I have is the original compact head. ROund black knob and small silver lever.

So will see what a PHC will run me. Assuming that is out of budget could one buy a new pump assembly for the Compact II and mate it to the existing bowl which seems to be good shape? I have seen these for sale and assume they would be less than a complete new unit but essentially make this essentially a new one for everything but the bowl itself.

Toilet photos 101

I get a lot of photos of toilet bowls and not much more...they don't help much 'cuz alll toilet bowls look alike.

So...if it's a manual toilet, please make sure to that your photo(s) show a good view of the PUMP/ A shot of the pump from the top and one from the side helps the most in IDing a toilet.

If it's an electric toilet with a bowl that bolts onto a base, there should be a cover over that base. Take one from the front or side with the cover (if there is one) on...and a couple with it off from all angles you think will add info. There's a VERY good chance that you'll find a plate on the motor housing that has the make, model and serial # for the toilet.

PHC "conversion" is what you want

You COULD buy a just a CP II base and pump, but Raritan discontinued the CP II at the end of last year, and besides it'll cost you as much or more as the PHC "conversion" and it's nowhere near as good a toilet. Check this out: sbo.com PHII PHC LBA
