Ideas on what to replace the cabin liner with..??

I replaced my last year with the mildew resistant, smoke blue indoor ourdoor carpeting from home depot. The results were stunning (and it was easy!). I actually overlayed it.

Hull Liner Replacement

I replaced my O'day 26 hull liner with a product from YourAutoTrim. Link is: http://www.yourautotrim.com/huhfa.html

After pulling the old stuff out I went over the interior with with a wire brush to get rid of the remaining foam and as much of the adhesive as possible. The final clean up was wiping all down with acetone.

Application was with a high temp spray adhesive with excellent results, Just make sure that you have plenty of ventilation and wear a respirator.

When I refurbished my 1985 O'Day 28, the original lining was tattered, stained and looked terrible.

I went to both Lowe's and Home Depot and checked out their mildew proof indoor/outdoor carpeting and found they've improved on the product from the days when the only such stuff was made to look like green grass. Anyway what I bought fit in very well with color and texture. I used carpet adhesive specifically made for indoor/outdoor carpeting. I applied the adhesive with the notched tool like the kind you'd use for applying grout for tile. It was very easy. Be careful with your measurements, however and dry fit the carpet before applying the glue.

It's been nearly five years and the carpet still adheres to the hull and still looks great.

Wonderful ideas.
If I don't sell my 28..I will make an effort to follow one of these suggestions.
The Marine Hull liner seems a good way to go to avoid mold and moisture.

I stripped the interior of my Oday 22 and rebuilt it to fit two people. All the cabinet work is in oak, so I lined all the interior with sheets of 1/8 th oak veneer that I had pre-finished. At 20 bux a sheet it was economical, easy to install , simple wipe down maintenance and looks great.

I removed the old liner in my Oday 28 last spring and replaced it with an almost navy high grade marine carpet from a carpet dealer in Knoxville. I used an adhesive from the Depot in tubes. Total cost less than 60.00 bucks and looks great. People kept saying it would be too dark but sets off my new light color cushion covers great. Good luck !!!Easy job with great results!

I'm very partial to the carpet liner myself. It just seems to make the cabin a lot warmer and drier on a cold night when sleeping on board. Also, just because the interior is carpet, it doesn't mean that you can't hang pictures and hooks on it. I use Velcro and it works out great.

Check out a book entitled, "Fitting Out Your Boat" by Michael Naujok. It's loaded with a lot of colored illustrations and has a great chapter on various headliners, adhesives, and how to apply it. I found this book in my public library. If your library doesn't have it, it may be possible to get it through the inter-library loan system in your area.

You can also check out the post on hull liner that should be a little bit below this thread.
I used the " headliner" per that post and it worked out real well, the advantage of that over the off the shelf carpet at lowes is that it is a little lighter and a little more flexible/stretchy, and lest plastic - ish (a word i believed i just made up for this post)
additionally i painted the interior hull behind my forward sink, and the hanging locker (also where the porta potty goes) with porch pain from lowes because i didn't see a need to have carpet in those two areas. it turned out real well, adhesion and finish was very good. that would be a cheap and easy alternative if you didn't want to worry with the carpet (headliner)
But i agree with the fuzzy captain, carpet is much warmer and at least feels dryer
