We have a 29.5 with a trapezoidal shaped fridge. There is a 1/2 inch lip around the perimeter that is about 1/2 way down. The box is narrower at the bottom than the top. The boat came with 3 smoked plastic inserts that don't really seem to fit together very well on the lip. Has anyone come up with a way of making shelving that give you access to the stuff on the bottom?

At this point we are thinking of using plastic bags like you buy at the grocery store as reusable totes. Some sort of shelf above them so you could add another layer.

Would like to hear what others are using or designed. The weird shape is really a problem.

We store our beer and soda in the bottom, lying the cans on their side. We only use one of the plastic shelves and place a plastic basket on top that holds items like mustard, mayo, etc. Because we use only one of the shelves, we can easily reach below it to retrieve the beer. In the main or middle "tall" part of the frig we stack things like wine, meat in plastic bags, fruits, vegetables and other things.

I took a plastic covered grid shelve, like you can buy in any hardware store, and cut it to fit the ridge half way down the icebox. I then cut it into two pieces, and hinged one on to the other with a couple of plastic ties. This way, you can put the whole thing flat, and place articles on top, in plastic basket,s then by flipping up one half, you can access cans/bottles below. Does this make sense? Can supply a sketch or pic if you are interested. works like a charm

IanJ,

Thanks for the info. I decided to try that method and am making a template now.

Thanks
