Ideas for dock guard?

Frame it out with additional dock lumber and apply dock bumper. I got my boat dock bumper material here.
If you go to either WM or Defender and look in their dock sections you'll see pretty much all the available dock treatments that are on the marketplace.
Docked at Coronado for lunch. The public dock is cushioned with tires. Left some nasty black marks wherever they touched the hull. I would imagine the big box home improvement stores would have some kind of vinyl edging that would work along the dock. For the corner, doubt the Marina would let me hammer or drill anything with significant holding power into their floating dock. Install a wheel and it's probably theirs when you retire to Curacao.
Yeah well, when your boat contacts the vertical fender it will roll away and expose that steel boat-opener. Take some measurements and you can frame up an assembly at home, add dock edging, and attach it with a drill and 4 bolts when you get it down to the marina. You can buy enough dock bumper to do the job for less than the cost of a fender.
We used indoor/outdoor carpeting purchased at Lowes. Tacked it into place with small flathead nails. Use galvanized if you can to prevent them from rusting. It's a cheap fix that works well and helps avoid those ugly black lateral streaks on the hull.
