Thanks for the information about this book The Boy Me and the Cat. I purchased a copy and have had a great read. Sailing the islands of the east coast of USA and the islands of the west coast of Scotland is a bit different.

The boat was named Whisper, and the blog is here:
On October 29, 2006, s/v Whisper left on a two and 1/2 year journey from Pasadena, MD through the Bahamas, the Dominican Republic and the West Indies. Her crew consists of Hans Eriksson, Kristen Miller and KitKat.
