Depends on your time frame, the ICW cruising guides by Bill and Jan Moller, or John Kettlewell cover everthing pretty well from Va south. If you have the time for "off the path" detours and adventures, I'd recommend the guides written by Claiborne Young.
Try "The Intracoastal Waterway Norfolk to Miami" by Jan and Bill Moeller. This is a handbook that will supplement others and charts.Len Fagan "Tale Winds"
Read this book recently, A year in Paradise: How we lived our dream. Written by Stephen Wright Watterson. Great reading. The author spent a year on the ICW from Ohio to Fl. Not technical no charts just good points of interest, good moorings and a great read.Chuck DickhutS/V Kililani h31
We found the Waterway guides (Southern, Mid-Atlantic, etc.) to be the best source of information regarding anchorages, marinas, shoal-prone areas, and much more. Buy the latest edition and the current NOAA charts. Also, roadmaps come in handy around towns.
