We have a 1997 hunter 336. We are wanting to add a refrigerator unit but not sure how to calculate what size ice box we have now. Currently the ice box is divided horizontly by a 3 piece shelf. This shelf divides the ice section from the food section. Do i calculate all space or food space for cubic feet.
If anyone has a similar vessel, what size ice box do you have?
I'm looking at either the isotherm 2301 or the isotherm 2501

Calculate all the volume since you'll be using all the space now.. The calculation roughly relates to the surface area for heat transfer into the box so with the ice area now exposed, you have to accommodate and pump out the heat coming into the box from all sides.. This then gives a guesstimate of the size of unit needed to deal with getting the heat out.

Since my icebox is a little irregular shape and not a perfect rectangle, I will go with my longest measurements. So the entire box inside is 31"L x 16" W x 24" D, divide by 1728 and I get ~6.8 cubic feet (and thus go with the 2501). Does that sound correct or way off?

The math is correct, so if your measurements were reasonable, 6.88 cubic feet is your volume.
