Long story short, the water tank on my Catalina 27 was ridiculously inaccessible so I never used it. I've had the boat for about 4 years now so you can imagine what the lines looked like - bleck! Last weekend I started the job: replaced all hoses from the tank to the faucet, installed new sink drain & hose, cut holes in the tank, bulkhead & deck, installed a new deck fitting. Finished on Friday. No leaks! Now I just have to take Princess Peggie's recommendations about flushing the tank and I'll have tasty fresh water any time I want. No more water jugs! Thanks Peggie! water tank purity

I never use my water in my tanks for drinking but would like to see some info on it. It seems that water left stagnant in a tank for a period might not be too healthy. I use an article I read years ago on preparing the tanks each spring, I fill with a gallon of bleach for each 25 gallon tank and top off the tanks with fresh water, let it sit for 2 hours then flush 3 times with fresh water. Is there enough chlorine in regular water to keep it fresh in the tanks or should I add some to it? I use the water for washing, cleaning dishes , showers, etc. otherwise I stick with bottled water for drinking. any advice? Congratulations LaDonna on your successful project. Do you have pressure water on the 27 or the rotten Catalina handpumps? Switching to pressure water is like heaven. dave

Dave, read "Fresh Water Maintenance"

in the Head Mistress forum reference library. It should answer most of your questions.
