I just purchased a 30ft Hunter and noticed the I beam needs to be replaced. How on earth do I get that thing out? This is my first sailboat and any help would be greatly appreciated.

I beam? What year, and pictures would help. If it is the beam that supports the mast there is lots of info here.

The Cherubini's (deck stepped masts) have a metal beam that the compression post sits on in the bilge. After many years they tend to rust out.
you should be able to get the measurement from Hunter Marine, then simply replace the old ( usually wooden) mast step, with what ever material you wish. Its better to do with the mast off so that there is no extra compression on the deck plate, however , they have been done with the mast in place as well. You will have to remove some of the shrouds around the step, but that's easy enough to do. Good luck!!
