I purchased a McGregor 25, 3 months ago. The prior owner said he would help me get the boat out of the water, onto the trailer and secure it for transport. I have tryed to contact the previous owner for over 2 weeks with no response. I have never taken a sale boat out of the water and secured it to a trailer for transport. Whiskeytown Lake = Claire Engle Lake (new name)
Whiskytown Lake, now called Claire Engle Lake (I think after a politician) is NE of Redding in northern California. It's a very nice lake at 2600 feet elevation but because of the mountains and the pine trees it gives the feeling of one that is much higher altitude. Access is much easier by plane as there is a small landing strip on the edge of the lake. Car access is over windy roads with steep grades and passes to negotiate so the tow vehicle and driving skills will have to be taken into consideration. Traveling uphill make sure the automatic transmission doesn't overheat and downhill make sure the breaks don't overheat.
