Hi all, I have recently purchased a 1976 O'Day 22. The only thing that it did not have where the spreaders. I am new to sailing and did not know that the spreaders were specific to the model. Can anyone tell me what length, shape, where to buy, and anything else I need to know about spreaders? Thanks, Kevin

O'Day 22 spreaders

Kevin, As Steve suggested, Rudy at D&R Marine has them. I just replaced them on my 22 last week. They are listed on the D&R website and they are fairly easy to replace. The orginials were so corroded I had to cut the ends off both spreaders to release the shroud cable with a hacksaw. The new ones went on fine with the through-bolt fitting. BTW you might want to check the chainplates. My 22 is 1973 vintage and I had to replace them due to deterioration after I was dismasted in my slip two years ago. I made the mistake of looping a dock line around the starboard chainplate during some stormy conditions (bad idea). Rudy probably will recommend that they be replaced as well. Anyhow, good luck on the spreader replacement and happy sailing this summer. Larry
