I would like to have another prop for just cruising. Reversing with my racing prop can bring problems, especially due to the fact that my slip is just off Lake Michigan on the St. Joe River which has a stiff current. I really need something that will respond with control to get in and out of my slip. I haven't located a company besides Autoprop that makes a sailboat propeller that is affordable. The propr size is approx.16.4 inches. The engine is a Yanmar 3GM30. R Reduction ration:*2.61:1. Rotation is RH. Shaft Diameter is *1". Does anybody have any ideas? I would really appreciate any suggestions. *To the best of my knowledge.

Sounds like a Martec

We have raced an Express 35 and had a similar problem with a Matec folding propellor. We swithed to a Flex-O-Fold that is geared so both blades open. It is far smoother and backs up fairly well. Check out the web page at flexofold.com. Price is reasonable and you won't have to change props.

Check out the AutoStream Prop

Search the Photo Forum for "Autostream". I have detailed there the installation of an AutoStream prop that I bought from pyacht.com. It is marketed in this country by Martec and it is of an Australian design and manufacture. It is a feathering prop with excellent features for $1000 less than competing brands. Power in reverse is amazing. Rich

Max-Prop

There's always Max-Prop. Been around for about 25 years. Comes in both 2 and 3 blade versions. You can't beat the reverse power of a feathering propeller.

Agree with Justin

The Max prop is the way to go. You can even race with it--good feathering qualities. Standard gear for Swan boats.

You're gonna pay for a Max Prop

But from my understanding, they're the best. If you're a serious racer AND cruiser, you probably wouldn't be sorry. LaDonna
