Hello all, After many years of faithful service the teak flooring on my 1987 O'Day 322 is starting to show its age. So before I embark on this new project(sanding and revarnishing the floor) of mine I was wondering if the group had any advice? Also it seems that some of the teak / wood flooring panels can be pulled up but others seem to be permanently stuck. Is this the norm or can they all be pulled out? I would really like to do this over the winter at home. Thanks in advance, Dave

Re worked

Mine two years ago. I could not find a way to get the fixed panels out without tearing them up, so I stripped and sanded them on the boat. Strip and sand the removable ones at home. Watch out the veneer is not very thick. I used a urethane finish, about 6 coats and it turned out great. Has held up well and still looks good. Hope you don't have a hour and a half drive to the boat like I did. Good Luck , Jeff

In the same boat

Dave, I bought a 1988 O'Day 322 this past winter and am now facing the same task. I plan to start next month but am not sure what technique to use. Maybe we can coordinate and head off some problems. In any case, good luck. John

Good Old Boat

You're in luck, this month's issue of "Good Old Boat" has a fair extensive article on reflooring a boat with teak. I haven't read the entire article but it seems to take you through the entire process and how to handle the road blocks that pop up. Good Luck!
