I need some advice on what color to paint my old and worn anti-slip deck paint. My topside is white of course, hull color above the waterline is dark blue with a white stripe, a red strip at the waterline and possibly a green antifouling color. I have been considering two colors for my anti-slip deck first off-white and second a color I thought would go well with dark blue, a gray anti-slip. Any veteran opinions or those of good taste appreciated, thanks. Mark

Mark: The lighter colors are cooler. So white/off white is your best choice. If you want some contrast you may consider a dab of black in the paint (gray). Have you considered using gel coat for the non-skid? Paint wears and needs regular maintenance. Gel coat has the advantage of using the same products to clean the topsides and the deck. Gel coat will also wear for many many years without anything more than normal cleaning.

Ahoy Mark! I painted our formerly light tan decks with a grey non-skid deck paint. The non-skid is GREAT! But not on a hot sunny day with bare feet !!! We have yet to name the dance we do!!! It also causes a lot of radiated heat down below. If and when I repaint the decks (maybe sooner than later), I will use a much lighter shade of grey! pearl gray
I just painted me just sold boat's non skid with petit's "Pearl Gray" It's a light gray that looks really good. As far as color combinations go, I sail on a boat that has blue hull, red boot stripe, , white decks and gray non-skid. So that color combination works well.

Just bought the boat don't know how it was applied but looks like it was painted somewhere along the way a light blue. The problem is that no matter how hard I try, I can't get the gray/black spots off the anti-slip. So, I'm going to paint it I believe off-white after the advice that gray causes a great deal of heat, although contrasting colors look neat.

too hot
I painted non-skid in what I thought would be a nice-looking gray, and wished I hadn't. It was too hot to walk on barefoot, even though the gray didn't appear that dark. I'd stick with white, although I've seen light blue.

Beware of light gray paint
A PO painted the deck with what might have been a light gray non-skid paint. Unfortunately, it looked like lavender *yks to me. We sanded the paint off last summer, colors of new paint job haven't been decided yet. Definately won't be using gray or light blue.

Mark. the traditional color for decks is buff, sort of like a light beige. Doesn't show all the dirt but doesn't get as hot as teak decks or other dark colors.
