New at a local loft
If you can afford it, a new sail will be the biggest improvement you can make to your boat.Evaluate the lofts in your area, and pick the one with the sailmaker you feel will best take care of you. The visit to your boat to assess your current inventory, really listening to how you intend to use the boat, understanding of local conditions, advice on sail trim, and long term support are among the advantages I enjoy from my relationship with Greg Koski at Doyle in Cleveland. If you can get that from a local sailmaker, it is worth far more than price differences you can find, IMHO.By the way, on my first round, buying a new main, all of the lofts I talked to were willing to meet the best price I found, locally, or on the web.The new main reduced heel by 5 degrees, and gave us a good knot more drive in 15 knot winds on our 77 h27.Good luck!DavidLady Lillie
