I NEED a bigger Catalina!

Did Catalina ever make a 25 with a fixed keel? I have my heart set on another Catalina, but I want a fixed keel for better performance. Thanx for any info.

Yes Catalina makes a Cat 25 with a fixed keel. Mine is a 1980 and has a nice draft of 4'3" Performance and space of the cabin are great.

You can buy a Catalina 250 with water ballast, or wing keel, or fin keel. The fin keel may be out of production; they don't mention it at their web site, but it was mentioned in their brochures a year or two back.There is a little more headroom (5" or 6") in a fixed-keel version of the C250.Catalina also has a model 270, with a little more room, but otherwise looks like the 250 (on casual inspection).Their web page is: http://www.catalinayachts.com/The web site has been completely reworked in the past few months.

Just bought one two weeks ago

I just bought a 1985 Catalina 25 with a fixed keel two weeks ago. It has a draft of 4 feet and a ballast of 1900 lbs., making it VERY comfortable in bigger air...Talk to owners of both swing and fixed. If trailerability and getting close to shore are concerns, go swing. If stabality and easy motion are concerns, go fixed. I'm really glad I did!
