All, I have been reading the manual on my 170 and trying to figure out how to reef the main. It should not be hard, but here is my question. The manual says: "Lower the main halyard until the reef hook on the boom gooseneck can be inserted into the forward reef cringle..." I have searched my boom and mast over several times and do not see the reef hook. Anyone have a picture of this hook and what a 170 looks like reefed. I need up close pics. Let me know. Tim

No Hook........

I dont have a hook. What I have done is to mark my halyard with a black marking pen where I want my reefing point to be. I have ties that I leave in the reefing holes all the time, when I need to reef I lower the halyard to the black mark, secured it to the horn cleat and then tie the sail down using the ties that are on the sail.

Thanks!

Glen, Thanks for the input. That is a great idea. I'll give it a shot. Tim
