Steve

I'm interested in installing the additional rudder for the Vega.
Could you please provide me with a price for parts? Is there a kit
available?

I am also getting ready to install Speed and Depth Transducers/Thru-
Hulls in my Vega. Could anyone tell me the prefered location?

Thank you: David.fuchs@...

Dave,

My depth transducer is located in the port hanging locker in the
most forward bottom corner. This puts it just forward of the keel
and almost midline. I don't know if this is perfered by most but
works well for me.

Mine is too. It gets a good picture of the bottom there without being
upstructed by the keel. Our Knot meter is on the side of the keel,
accessable from the bilge. We can get to it by kneeling by the stove and
removing the panel on the cabin sole. They do need periodic cleaning and
having it in the bilge keeps any water coming in when removed (and before
being plugged) in the bilge.

Hi David,

Ther is a kit available for an extra rudder.
You can see the pictures of it and a description at the files
department of this site.
The adress: Yahoo! Groups
Somewhere at the end of the list there is a map about the extra
rudder.

David: I put my depth transducer on centerline just forward of the short
bulkhead between the v-berths. The knotmeter transducer is about 6 inches to
port of that location. The depth transducer is faired into the hull somewhat.
This location for the transducers makes it easy to pull the speed transd for
cleaning - any water just goes aft to the bilge. My instrument is an older
round Autohelm bi-data. Bill Bach V1071

Hey Bill:

Still monitoring the site...In Lyra, the tranducer is on the port
side midship between the waterline and the keel...the knot metre is
port side on the flat section above the keel and is accessible for
cleaning in the bilge...On another note Bill, are you and Helen
coming to the Rendezvous?...I've got my Tinker ready for you again...

Cheers
