My starboard side window.

Needless to say, I am not in the mood to pull the boat, so I can remove the window and reinstall it.

What I'm hoping to do is to tape off the cabin top, put a bead of 795 along the top of the window, and smooth into a nice fillet. I'm hoping this will stop the leaks until I haul out this fall, and fix it for real.

Any thoughts?

Also, the interior trim plate on my windows appears to be painted mahogany. Was this something a PO did? Anyone else with a 192 or 222 have a varnished wood trim plate on their windows? Because you just know this winter I'll be looking to remove, strip, and varnish that up if it really is wood. I mean, I know it's wood, because I can see the voids in the grain under the paint. The paint is very uniform, I'm wondering if the PO used a rattle can on it, not a paint brush. Worried about off-white paint all down in the grain...

We carry a supply of toilet bowl ring wax for temporary (three or four weeks) leak stoppage. It is quick, flexible, fairly unobtrusive, can be applied or reapplied to a wet surface and easily removed with paint thinner. You know it's working when you see water beading on its surface.

My starboard portlight leaked too. After removing and rebedding, the dang thing still leaked. Water was coming in (and had been all along) between the plexi and its gasket. So I siliconed the exterior along the bottom of the plexi where it enters the gasket.
It still leaked.
I siliconed the sides.
It still leaked.
I siliconed the top.
The leak stopped.
There's an ugly bead of caulking all around the plexiglass, but my settee cushion is finally dry.
