I have a Hood Line Drive 810 furler (1987). One side of the Halyard Swivel Insert popped out. Not sure how, unless it broke in the center of the insert. Pompanette says I can insert new one without taking mast down. With the lip on the bottom of the "insert", I'm not sure if it will fit unless I can get the swivel up above the luff feed section tube. Not sure I have enough room at the top of my forestay (above the luff tube) without taking mast down and "unpinning" the forestay. Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.

Use a halyard as a temporary forestay. Then remove the forestay, fix the fuller and reattach. Using a halyard as a temporary stay is pretty common practice and perfectly safe. However I wouldn't climb the mast unless the real forestay is attached.

If they're sending you a new one then it CAN be inserted without removing anything. It's a new design that doesn't have a lip but rather secures in place with a cir-clip type of thing. The insert slides through and then secures with this round clip.

The above is accurate IF I am thinking about / picturing the same thing you're talking about.

Good luck.

Great to hear. Thanks for your feedback. Sure wasn't looking forward to taking down the mast for a simple fix.
