I am in the process of helping a friend reconnect the plumbing that a person he let stay on his boat decided to vandalize it. I need to find out what

I'm glad that's not a diagram of your heart.
It may be a winterization configuration. But it's hard to tell.

@Brentcan , look at this from our point of view. We're not there, you and your friend are. You now have the attention of some of the smartest characters on the water when it comes to boats in general and most of their subsystems. If we can't solve your problem potable water vandalism at this distance, it's questionable whether anyone could. A plumber might trace this out faster than we can if he were standing where your camera was, however the downside is $500 to $1.000 to do the repairs.

1. The first thing to do is for you and your friend to realize you've got a whole pile of work to do before we even start. Not willing to put in the work ? Too Bad!

2. We expect you to do what we ask and answer all the questions we ask. Want to run your own question and answer period and do as you please ? Too Bad!

3. Be specific. You're not doing well at all. so far. Don't know the name of a part, ask.

4. Let's get started. Don't like my attitude ? Too Bad!

A. Please identify and label every hose or part which has a white arrow pointing to it and show the direction of flow with your own arrow within the hose. Show this on a clean copy of your original picture. If you have problems identifying each hose, you MAY be better off hiring a plumber to do the work.

B. Please post several more pictures showing this tank and attached hoses from several different angles.

I need to find out what the brand is there are no markings
The brand of what ? Be specific. Actually, this is of little or no help until you determine which hoses are connected to what and the direction of flow.

You may not approve of my straightforward approach, but you would if you were to see the number of times we have been presented with similar problems such as yours which are dealing with engines, sewage handling, electrical problems, and sail control. We have had the above three rules violated so many times and to such a degree, speaking for myself I'm getting to the point of saying piss off and ignoring these posts. However, when we do get someone who DOES what we say and ask, the feeling of satisfaction upon the solution of the problem is felt on both sides.

I look forward to seeing your next post and Seasons Greetings to You and Yours.

Red hose on right goes to bilge, it is TP valve release path. Bottom right braided hose is cold water inlet from pressure pump.. may be connected to a blue hose.. Top left braid hose is the hot water outlet to system, should go to a red line somehow.. .. The two hose barb fittings left and right are for connecting to the engine coolant bypass so that the water is heated by the engine when it is running.. The electrics look a bit messed up.. There should be a thermostat behind the cover in bottom center.. don't hook up to electrics until the tank is full and has been bled of air and you're sure that the thermostat is in line .. the thermostat is one of the things that keeps the tank from bursting.
The brass plugged fitting is probably for an anode.. it may or may not be there..
As noted before, the system may be in a "winterization" mode.. and it looks like a couple of valves are missing...
More detailed pictures are needed..

Thank you I will email them and see what they say
I think you completely missed the point of the reason for me posting that link. West Marine will NOT answer your question, they sell marine parts, that's all they do. Their Advisor section of their website is just that, advice, but no forum.

Ralph's #7 post is correct. Another way to say it, as we have to many who have come here before you, is: "Help us to help you." I've been active on boating forums for decades. We often see questions like yours, which could also be interpreted as "Please do all my homework for me ." Often without the please included. Sorry, ain't gonna happen, and it's not just because doing someone else's homework is cheating. In this case it's because we would really like to help but as both Ralph and kloudie point out, you have not provided enough information for anyone to do so, much as we'd like to. I gave you that link to try to help you identify the parts. The big circular object is, of course, the water heater. The link provided you with an identification of what some of the connections are called. It doesn't matter much what make, since they all have similar connections, for starters at this stage of your inquiries. Until you figure out what the other ends of those hoses are connected to, and tell us, that's about all we can do from here now. As Ralph said, "You're there, we're not." That's true and no amount of begging and pleading can change that reality.

The effort we've put in just to help you understand why we're limited in our ability to help you should indicate how much we want to actually help. I hope you see it that way. People could just as well have ignored your post entirely. See?

Good luck, happy holidays.

Actually Western Marine did answer my email
That's encouraging! Have you heard from West Marine?
(Sorry, could not resist... this thread has faint echos of the New Red Green Show. :) Duct Tape may yet fix all the problems!)

Happy Holidays!

Very nice of you, great time of year for the spirit. Glad we could help. Perhaps now you know why we asked those questions about info you now claim you had. Probably the same questions West Marine asked...:)
