i am getting ready to work on deck. barrier coat question.

the deck has no soft spots but gelcoat wear is heavy especially on the non skid area. i have ordered a gallon of cream color kiwi grip which should arrive any day. i have a local access to interprotect 2000e barrier coat for about 60 bucks gallon. not knowing the boat and have not much time left before it gets too cold to do paint work(north east) i have to ask you guys. -should i just prep the non skid and splash the kiwi or barrier coat it first then the kiwi? when i was sanding inside i had to scrap at least 10 tiny small pimple looking sticky things(it was tiny resin bubbles) location was side deck under the non skid both side. anybody seen them before? what they are telling me? reading velocir, they complain about leaks due to sandwich core and they barrier coat entire topside(i believe-was it just the cabin top?) is such measurements necessary? i mean i really don't want to spend an extra penny if its not "must do". plus not much time left give or take few more weeks rain, below 50 degree days would roll in. i am also getting back to work thursday so i am gonna be able to put 8-9 hours of work to vega.

I live in Alaska and winter is here, so I feel your pain. If I could have gotten quality barrier coat for $60 a gallon then YES I would have barrier coated my Vega deck. It wont do any harm and can only help. I had sticky bubbles under my paint in the cabin roof as well. I think it was just condensation forming on the roof and pooling in a void. It could also be your foam core is wet in that area and leaking out thru pin holes. I had to redo the beam on my forward deck because of moisture. It manifested in the V berth roof as dark brown pools of sticky mess. Drill a small hole upward thru the fiberglass layer and see if moisture leaks from the foam core. If not, fill with epoxy and be happy. From: "bundchen1263@...
