Does anyone know where I can get parts for a Westerbeke 10-2 Hydra Muffler. I need the plastic drain plug that is attached to the bottom of the muffler.

What's special about the plug Charlie, isn't it something you can just pick up at Home Depot? You don't want to buy it from Westerbeke, it will be half the cost of a new engine! Perhaps a picture would help?

What Scotty said. ...or just epoxy over it. No need for a drain with antifreeze in it or remove one hose and pump it dry.

Scotty you would think that it would be that easy but its a metric screw cap and I can't seem to find the right size fitting? I do need it for I drain the system of sea water as part of winterization.

Do you have a specialty nuts and bolts place nearby like "Fastenall"? They would be able to get you a stainless metric plug that would do the job, and it would be much cheaper than a marine store.

What brand of muffler do you have? I seriously doubt Westerbeke makes water mufflers nor does it make any difference on the brand installed. It was most likely installed by O'Day or a PO. A picture is worth a thousand words. My C27 uses a Vetus water muffler but I have seen other Catalinas with other brands. My drain plug (which I never take off) is just a plastic cap with female threads that goes over a male thread molded into the plastic. The whole thing is a high temp roto (or maybe blow mold) plastic. Others I've seen are made of fiberglass.

Thanks Joe, What you have described is what I have. A Plastic cap that goes over a threaded drain. Problem is the cap corroded and broke apart so that I can not use it to match up. You are probably right in that Westerbeke is not the maker. About all I can find out is that its called a Hydro-Hush Muffler Made by ? I have gone on the internet but to date have not been able to match up this Muffler. Why is it something as so simple can be so hard!

Hydro-Hush.JPG Hi again Charlie! Checked out my muffler today and it would seem it was made by Westerbeke? Mine doesn't have a drain plug and is stainless, but it does say Hydro- Hush. It's likely to be as old as the boat though at 40yrs.

THANKS Scotty, Mine is hard plastic I'm thinking that the drain plug from other Vetis mufflers have to be the same wouldn't you think? I am going to search around a little bit more and see if I can come up with a part # for the cap.

Can you reach it with a metric threaded die? If you can figure out the thread size it should be easy to find a cap.

I can reach it, not easy but doable. I 'll need to get a thread sizer stay tuned.
