On my 28’ O’Day I have a universal M12 engine and I believe a Hurth 50 transmission. I am going to change transmission fluid, but was wondering the fluid capacity of the transmission

In addition, are you aware of the dipstick? It's hard to read. Roll it on a paper towel to read. When you refill, keep the old fluid - I use clear plastic cups. The correct level when using the dipstick is checked with it resting on the top, not screwed in.

If i recall correctly, the seal under the dip stick/refill is disposable (one time). If you don't replace, after a while it would leak.
I think you might be confusing this with the crush washer on the bottom of the housing. The one below the vertical dipstick on the top of the housing doesn't get much heavy use.
