Question-how do I double my docklines with a sampson post? I am using 5/8" docklines, and the post is full with one set of lines. I do have two cleats on the stern, so no problem there.

My thought is to use the spliced ends on the post and tie off to the tide risers at the bow. Would you use a bowline for your knot of choice? Any other ideas?

We are not expecting Alex to hit us, but there looks to be a 30% chance of seeing tropical storm winds for now. I live quite a ways from the boat, but figure I need to go do some preparations. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Please tell me where you keep your boat, would love to see it
I keep mine at Lakeside Marina, which is down the road from yours
I too will be going down to the boat Wednesday to better secure mine, will read responses and will follow advice given

Hi Jorge, we are at Watergate. Best wishes with this hurricane season. It just might be a nasty one for us.

Cheers,

I got my boat after Ike, and spent 1 year restoring it
Don't want to start all over again; I am slip 12, and will be there Wednesday to check all dock lines...just in case
