Hunter 37-cutter San Francisco Bay
A friend will be sailing up from Guatamala this year and looking for a place to safely leave his boat during hurricane season. He's been cruising for six years on his 40 ft boat (55 foot mast) and would like some suggestions from those of you (Ed?) with experience along the East Coast.

His normal routine is to sail all winter then stash the boat, but he is ready for a transition to the East Coast next year and would like to have some ideas. I will gladly pass them along.

Thanks

Sanders

FYI we had two beautiful warm sunny days of sailing on San Francisco Bay last week. T-shirt weather, which is rare.

My limited experience out of Lake Erie is that all of the "far" east coast is exposed. A place like suggested above might be OK because it is back in one of the rivers. But so was I in North Carolina and still had to move to an anchorage way up a creek in 2008. If the boat had still been there I would have had to do the same again this year. Maybe someone knows an area that has never been hit.

But on Florida's west coast there are areas that have been spared over the years. My boat is way back up in Tampa Bay, actually Hillsborough Bay I guess. As far as I know they have never been touched.

Hunter 460 Montreal
I am a Canadian citizen and live in Québec. I Have a 460 Hunter that I keep during hurricane season in Virginia. In fact my insurance company don't want me to go south of the 35 degree Latitude North. I keep it in Deltavillle Va.There have been near misses
but they are well equipted (Marina) and far in they Chsapeake Bay.
Hope this helps
