Hunting for Hunter Parts Off Salvaged Vessels

An October 2001 storm caused my mushroom to drag and a prolonged night-time collision with new Farr 395. Both boats had heavy cosmetic damage. I need a new starbord toe rail (no longer made or offered by Hunter Factory), stanscions, lifeline and bow pulpit. Since there are car "graveyards" from which salvaged car parts can be found and used on old cars, I wondered if there were boat "graveyards" also. These would be great places to buy used parts for old Hunters not currently made, at reduced prices. Does anyone know of boat graveyard locations and specifically about the availability of a used starboard toe rail for my 1988 Hunter 35?

Try these

Check the related links for Sailorman,Sailors exchange, Thrifty Mariner, Tops-in-Quality,The Thrifty Mariner, Minneys Yacht surplus,Marine Exchange,Ocean Outfitter. I am sure there are more but this should keep you busy for a while. Question comes to mind: What about your insurance adjuster ? He is involved in the claim and probably has a list as well. Good Luck

Know exactly what you. . . .

are looking for. Like when we were teenagers and could find anything we needed for the car at one of several junkyards. We need to be able to drive to the local "yacht junkyard". From all the discussions on these web-sites it seems that all of the salvage yards are in Florida. But I'm going to check around the Oriental, NC area in a week or so. Web-sites are OK but you can't beat seeing, touching, and measuring.

Hunter's used parts

My dear friend, I own a H34 83, that probably looks like yours, and that was damaged in sept. 99 on Lake Champlain, NY. Both of my toe rails were ruined, and after searching in Canada, United States and UK the only things I found that came close are these ones : Taco from Florida as a model A62-0009VEL34D, worth 544.99$ US at West Marine (p.962 2001 Catalog). Here in Canada, I found someone that as Mirage toe rails, there black instead of anodized aluminium, 25 ft long max and the part horizontal is 1 7/8" instead od 1 1/2" with Taco. In my case, I will probably go with this one, I wanted to install a cleat at the mid part of the ship anyway so I'll buy the proper lenght and have a plate make for the middle part to install a cleat, unless someone finds an other place to find the originals. Good luck ! André

1998

I was able to get a new toe rail for my Passage 42 back in June of 98. The repair yard got it from Hunter. It would be a bummer if they didn't make them anymore.
