On the new Hunters (49, 45DS, 39), Hunter has introduced a new main-sheet rigging design that has one end of the main-sheet ran off of the arch through a rope clutch on the arch and trimmed via the rear cockpit winches. The other end of the mainsheet is in the usually place on the top of the cabin. The new layout still maintains the 4 to 1 purchase on the mainsheet for both ends.
I would like to retro-fit this design to my 2001 Hunter 320's arch. I was wondering if somebody with this new mainsheet layout can give us the stand up block size and the rope clutch size used in this design. Is the stand-up block attached directed to the arch (I am guessing via tapped screws)? Is the rope clutch attached via two tap screws or some other way?
I have the two extra winches in the cockpit I can use to trim in a bind, but I usually have no problem with 4 to 1 purchase today on my current mainsheet.
I am think about running this design to both sides of the arch (getting rid of the cabin top trimming end). By going this route I will gain 6 to 1 purchase on the mainsheet.
Thank in advance for any information on this new mainsheet rigging.
