Mainsail on my 326 has 4 battens. The upper 2 are full battens. However they are different in that the upper full length batten is round section whereas the lower full length batten is flat. The socket for the battens at luff of sail are same and appear to be made for round battens. My question is does anybody know what the standard set up is on this model. I am of the opinion that they should both be round but having difficulty finding a supplier.
Thanks for any feedback.

Another issue related to to mainsail is question of sail slides. I find raising the main extremely difficult and researching all areas to try to improve matters. On the Selden website there is a document that shows attaching slides to the mainsail using webbing produces a system that is too stiff and the recommended method is to use shackles. Problem is that all the plastic slide shackles are not long enough to use the existing holes/ grommets in the sail. What do other 326 owners use?
Thanks.

Dubai,
All 4 battens of my mainsail is flat type with 2 end caps on the lower 2 and 1 end cap on each of the 2 upper ones. The flat batten would sit in the luff socket although it could also accomodate rod batten. It looks like someone may have replaced your upper batten. As for raising the Mains, I don't have much problem. Make sure the slides are clean (lub with Sailkote) and Mast is not overly bend. My sail slides are attached to Mains via webbing. No issue there.

Thank you for your feedback Ken,
Looks like I need to consider replacing my battens.
You said that all yours are the same flat type, would you please let me know what size they are.
My flat ones are 16mm width, I am thinking to go for wider ones, 20 or even 30.
Any thoughts?

Thanks

Mine is also 16mm (5/8") and 6.35mm thick (1/4").
I thought of going wider but don't know if it'll help anything. Wider probably means heavier when hoisting the Mains.
