The Boat yard where I bought my 1989 30g gave me a cradle as part of the 'deal'. However, it is not spec'ed to the boat as the rear pads are pushing in the glass. Another guy at the club has 1990 30g and his cradle has a support band going across the back. Is this the commonly accepted means to support the boat?

I had the same problem

but with a 28.5. The aft pad pushed the hull in slightly. I made a crossbeam support for the aft end out of a pressure treated 6x6 and some doubled up 3/4 plywood. Another thing to look at is the adjustability of the pads. On my cradle the pads were adjustable in 2" increnments by means of a series of holes on 2" centers and a pin to put through the holes you wanted. I replaced all of that with infinitely adjustable jack screws (try Mcmaster & Carr)to get a much more accurate fine tune. Tom s/v Orion's Child
