Chuck Beazell, a member of my yacht club, won Division 1 of the Singlehanded Transpac yesterday on corrected time, having finished several hours behind a Santa Cruz 50 that owed him a couple days on handicap. Chuck's passage on his Hunter 54 "Joe" took 13 days, and his average speed was 6.88 knots. More info at www.sfbaysss.org

Thanks John for the news on Transpac

John: Ever since I caught your post on 06/29 about Chuck Beazell and his H54 "Joe", I've been visiting the sfbaysss.org site daily for news about the race. That's great news for Chuck, especially in light of his dismasting in 1996 just short of the finish. His victory was even more personal for me as I just recently bought a H54 -- nice to see it out winning races. I tried to forward an e-mail to Chuck through one of the SSS race committee, and to ask if he's in need of crew for the ride home. Please pass on my offer if you're in contact with him.
