I have a Hunter 280 with the Hunter windshield as I like to call it. Does anyone have any pictures and/or ideas of how to make blinds or drapes for it? I don't really want anything on the outside. I know there are a number of Models with the same windshield but in different sizes.
Thanks!

Sorry the one inside the boat. It is actually 2 large windows inside but 1 piece of glass on the outside. Honestly I want something to darken it and keep the boat cooler. It doesn't really even have to open and close.

I have

For in Florida we need as much as possible canvas for shading windows to try and keep boat cooler and what I have on my 07 H-36 big front windows are mesh covers that snap on and off the outside and that came that way new from Hunter but since moving to Florida I changed and had new darker blue sunbrella for those windows and also for 2 hatch's,I have lots of side windows so even with white stock shades I get plenty of light and thinking of getting auto tinting for them to block the sun here in Florida.
Hunter has these really nice shades on the bigger boats like but when I priced them to have made for my boat $$$$$$$$,there is a company that I found that will custom make shades that stick on to the windows and slide open and close for darkening or to let light in and I did get some for some of my smaller windows and they are all custom made $$$$$$,I think they are called Zarco but not sure and they are nice and they could be made for any size window and stick on with velcrom taps.

Re: I have

I did get a free sample from Zarco and they are nice but to have them custom made I think was going to be a few hundred Dollars. I was looking for a less expensive solution but I like not having anything hanging down. The reason I don't want anything on the outside is because on a 28' that window is a significant part of my for deck and while I try not to step on it, it can't always be avoided. I have considered snapping something on the inside. What about actually applying contact paper to the inside? Kind of like extreme tinting?

For all my hatches I have inside covers with velcro. Heavy duty velcro with the sticky back would probably work but I have one screw in each picece in the frames to make sure they don't come out. I have a velcro piece in each corner and in the middle on the larger hatches. I have the ususal exterior covers for my two big "windows" as you call them.

Tinting

I will be trying the dark auto tinting on my side windows also but need to wait a few months when my shoulder surgery is all healed.
I don't know how good it will work but will give it a try because of the extreme heat and sun here in Florida but hey ou should give it a shot and the idea of covers on the inside windows also sounds like a good idea with velcro and maybe snaps,a lot of good ideas here for sure,it all depends how handy or crafty you or wife or someone you know is willing to help and that is what is so good about this forum.

Re: Tinting

Lot's of crafty people in my boating family. This was my first summer with the boat and as a quick solution I used Velcro and cut out a few covers from a white vinyl room darkening blind. When up it really worked but the look was pretty trashy and the velcro gave out more than once. Do you think you can get tinting dark enough to help with sleeping?

Most of the Hunters with those large plexiglass fixed ports have a Sunbrella cover. It would be easy to make and you just need snaps screwed into the fiberglass to attach it. We leave ours covered most of the summer for just the reason that you are talking about.

We remove it during the winter to enjoy to open (out doors) feeling and to gain some extra heat on cool fall/winter/spring days.
