Hunter 41DS NYC
I am looking for members opinions on where to find the best people to help me sell my 2007 Hunter 41DS.. Our boat is in NYC right now, but don 't mind traveling for the right person.
Some of the dealers I know seem to be big on ego but little on results. Any suggestions ?
Thanks . Jms

Even the best selling brokers do little more than wait for the phone to ring so don't make their job more difficult by using one who isn't close by where the boat is located.

You may want to speak with Jack Wasson at Advantage Yacht Sales in Newburyport, MA. He sold our 1998 Hunter this past spring after only a few weeks of listing it and got us onto a new boat this summer.

I bought my boat from Matt LeDuc (matt@fleetyachtsales.com) He was terrific, knowledgeable, and sold my existing boat as well. He is a marine engineer to boot. I give him the highest possible recommendation.

You are located in an area with a huge number of potential buyers who are within only a few hours drive from the boat. List it locally. If it doesn't sell in a reasonable time than it probably has more to to with the boats "curb appeal" or its price point than it does which broker is selling it.

Have you considered selling fron this website. It would allow you to lower the price by several percent for a quicker sale.

Steve Dion has made a good suggestion. Another site you may want to consider is texas sailing which does a lot as well.

If you go to Yachtworld, it will list all the dealers that are in that state and you could look them up. You can look at their site and see what is sold and monitor it for several weeks. If you see those listings disappear on a regurlar basis, then they are selling boats but if the listings are constantly remaining, then be careful. Word of mouth is of course a good source and I am not sure but why not check on Angies List. I do trust this website as a source and Texas Sailing as well.

If you list on graigs list, make sure you have the money in the bank before you turn over the title work and there are third parties whom you can use to hold the title work and turn that over when the monies have cleared as I have come up with scam artists on that site in the past. If wire transfere, make sure you open a new account just for that and then remove the funds immediately and close that account unless the bank specifies no monies released without your express permission which I used when selling boats overseas. I hope this helps you.
