Addressing both issues.
First. Call information (800-555-1212)and ask for Hunter Marine's number in Alachua, FL. Then call them and ask for mike in parts. If they don't stock they can get it or will give you number of the company they bought parts from. In every case I have done this (on a 1988 boat!) I have gotten the parts and saved bucks as they sell at cost. Check around if you don't believe me. Spreaders: Better than boots, our rigger who has been in the business along time talked me out of "boots" several years ago. In his words, they get dirty, look bulky, crack and have to be attached with nylon straps and the like that can also grap the leech of your sail. Instead, do a criss-cross build up wrap with cheap white electrical or vinyl tape. Then as the build up gets thick enough to look good and do the job, do the final couple of wraps with the high quality stretch, self sticking turnbuckle type wrap. You know, the kind that you can really stretch and it sticks to itself without adhesive. It looks sleek and custom, it's super cheap and the last time we did it was 3 years ago and it still looks great.
