This post is not about Hunter vs. Catalina (or Beneteau) - I've had both H's and C's and bottom line for me, I love sailing. What this post IS, is a 'pat on the back' for Hunter Marine. I bought my latest boat a year ago, and being budget oriented, am only now preparing to add Auto Pilot. I sent an email to Hunter with a few basic questions. Within a day I had a response including 3 pages of installation instructions and photographs. These were detailed to the degree that anyone could do the install. Additionally, they informed me that their boats are all pre-wired for the components - my job's practically done. GREAT Customer Service, Again Hunter !

John, perhaps you'd be wlling

to share the name and email address of the wonderful person at Hunter that provided you with this information so the rest of us Hunter owners could have the same success you had. It's nice to read "kudos" for a change rather than rants and raves. George ps: What is your year, model & size?

re re Kudos

Don Martin has been very responsive to every question I have sent the Hunter factory, I have even got to meet Don on a factory tour that my family, and I were on while in Florida. To sum it all up Don is very helpful, and gets back to you in record time. Sorry Don I think we just added big time to your work load. John S/V Sanctuary II

Yes, I find production boat manufacturers

are very helpful when you need info on their current models but after these turn five years old they seem to have lost all records or interest. I guess employee turnover is mostly responsible for this. The new guy has no clue nor feels any commitment to previous models. Sorry for with holding my Kudos.

Their Good to Me Too...

To tell you the truth, I just bought a 1999 380 and I'm very happy with the boat. This site had good reviews and I read the threads pertaining with the boat. I needed to know the draft of this boat and I called Hunter and they went to, "The Barn", and dug out the records and gave me specifics on this boat that I couldn't get from general information. Thanks for the help Hunter and keep up the customer service. I'm sure I'll be using it again and again. Capt. Paul West S/V Star of Orion 1999 Hunter 380

Customer service

although our boat is over 10 years old, every time I have ever had occasion to talk or email Hunter customer service, they have been prompt and very helpful in responding regardless of age (of both me and my boat). In one instance, it required them to dig back through some older design drawings to provide some dimensions I needed. I presumed it was a lost cause but was pleasantly surprised to receive a fax within a day of the request. My neighbor also had a similar need from a competitor manufacturer which shall remain nameless as doing otherwise will only cause defensive responses. In his case, 2 phone calls and multiple emails went unanswered. Guess theytalina thought it was preferable to provide no customer service rather than just bad customer service.

Hunter! I purchased a '95 H26, a few weeks back and needed some paperwork from Hunter in order to help the boat clear Canadian Customs. I picked up the phone and spoke with Hunter's Customer Service at 10am on a monday morning, once i explained the situation, they had the required paperwork typed up and in the mail that afternoon. That is VERY good customer service, considering that we are talking about a 12yr-old boat!

Another vote for Hunter

Before I bought my H26 I called Hunter for information about weight, trailer specs, headroom etc. Even though I wasn't an owner and the boat is a '96, they took the ime to look things up and answer all my questions. Then, like delgesu, I needed paperwork to import to Canada. The Hunter folks did the necessary in a friendly and timely manner. I am quite ready to complain when I am not satisfied. I'm much happier to give credit for good, friendly service. I hope this thread gets as long as the Boat Babe thread. Different kind of appreciation, but also well deserved. It's not just about shape. Attitude is much more important!
