Several times, we as a group have raised questions concerning our boats in a technical way. As I was painting the front of the house it dawned on me to scan and place on the web the Hunter manual for the H240 and H260. The QUESTION is should I scan the entire manual or those sections we refer to the most; Rigging, Wiring and the like. I figure it will take about a month doing a few pages a day. Any Interest or has this already been done and I just don't know about? Jim S/V Java

Jim, This is the greatest idea I've seen to date

for this site. If we could get postings of all the original owners manuals for as many Hunter boats as possible it would be as close to a "Gift from God" as is possible. Most second, 3d,

I agree, great idea!

The manual for my 240 is where? On the boat, of course, some 75 miles from here. Putting it on the web is a great idea. Anything we can do to help? Thanks Bill Welsch s/v Renewal

Great idea

I like your idea. If I'm at home, the manual is in the boat, or if I'm in the boat....of course it's at home. Sort of like umbrellas.

YES! Great Idea!

I vote YES for the entire manual. It would be a great to include things like standing rig tension spec's and perhaps other spec's that come from the factory but not included in the manual. I have the factory specs for the 2001 H-260 W/B if needed. "VEGA"

Another yes vote for manuals , but could we not get Hunter to help instead of having to scan them in yourself? Thanks for the idea!

PDF files?

If Hunter has not already done so, it makes sense to convert the existing manuals to PDF format. Distribution would be much easier. I can tell you that being able to fully read the operation and maintenance manuals from websites played a significant role in my selection of electronics for the boat. Just about every manufacturer is finally figuring this stuff out. If Hunter already has the manuals in a word processor, this would be an easy conversion. I would think that proper disclaimers should protect them from liability.

H 240 Manual

I wish this had been thought of at the beginning of this boating season! I am the second owner of my 240 and the dealer didn't know what the original owner did with the manual. I purchased one from hunter and they charged me $25!

Check the archives on manuals

This idea has been floated before. As I recall, Hunter will/can not give HOW the rights to put these manual on this site. Since HOW is a money making endeavor, Hunter must license it to use them. I have, however, seen several Hunter manuals and other documents on other private sites, sometimes referred to in positings here. As long as they are not for profit sites, you might be ok (just my uneducated opinion, check with your attorney tho.) It's up to you to do it.

Not to be a wet blanket.... BUT

The Hunter manuals are copyright material. They may not be reproduced without written permission from Hunter Marine. Having said this... Hunter may be glad to give permission, but one should not make that assumption without asking. Hunter charged me $15.00 for a photo copy of my manual. I doubt they made any money by the time they paid wages and postage. Ward
