I appear to be missing the outhaul sheaf at the tack end of my Kenyon boom "see picture". Does anyone know the model of this boom and where I can get a replacement sheaf & axel pin.

Also, I would prefer to convert my boom to (duel) single line riffing. Has anyone done this before and would I need to replace the Gooseneck assembly from the hook style reef system I currently have.

It appears that rigrite.com has the parts I'm looking for.

I just came back from the boat, but will get the model number and other information you need next weekend unless someone else has it.

After taking measurements today and referencing the rigrite.com website, it looks like my Hunter H34 uses a Kenyon Brand Boom Model 3550 Size 5.00 x 3.50. It appears that the centerline Gooseneck Outhaul sheave is missing. Instead the previous owner just ran the Outhaul around the Gooseneck Assembly itself. RigRite.com appears to have a replacement sheave and axel pin.

Outhaul Sheave for 3550 Gooseneck: K-198-7A:
Anodized aluminum sheave is 1 3/4" OD x 31/64" wide x 3/8" ID.

Outhaul Sheave Axle for 3550 Gooseneck: K-10380:
SS axle pin is 3/8" diameter x 1" grip, with a turned groove on each end to accept 3/8" SS Snap Rings, K-63015 (2 included).

While I'm at it, I'm going to replace the Reefing Sheaves which look worn out and brittle.

Thanks. I've installed the aluminum Outhaul Sheave and Axel at the front of the boom. Took about 10 minutes and was pretty much self-explanatory.

I need to replace the reefing sheaves now which will require removing the axel used for the reefing and outhaul "please see picture". Does anyone have any experience removing this axle and replacing the sheaves? Is there anything I should be aware of before proceeding? What's the best way for removing the axle?

Thanks in advance.

I haven't needed to repair my boom end sheeves so can't help you with their removal and replacement.

But several years I did modify my gooseneck sheave/cam cleat arrangement with good results (for me anyway) and I thought to throw in the info since you seem to be on a quest for outhaul and reefing improvement. Although we have different Hunter models, we both have Kenyon booms and from your pic's it looks like the gooseneck reefing arrangement are the same. Some of the info contained in Posts #1 (and the url link contained in Post #1) and #6 in the below url might be of use.

http://forums.hunter.sailboatowners.com/showthread.php?p=748451&highlight=reefing line

Since the original thread in 2010, I have tweaked my goose neck sheave setup a bit more. I found that the large fender washers weren't quite large enough to keep the line in it's track. And larger SS fender washers with a 3/8" hole were an odd duck to find. To get around, I took apart an old Schaefer 3" block that was in my bone-yard collection and removed the cheeks. These are now in place of the washers. The reefing lines now feed into the boom nicely without binding and they don't jump off the sheaves. I can post a picture of how it looks now if you are interested.

Nicely done. Thanks for the post, I was thinking of doing something similar.
