I was recently in Florida and passed the Alachua exit off I-75. Has anyone been to the factory and are there tours? Tim

Tours

There are tours, several times per day. Unfortunately, the tours are not as extensive as we had hoped for. They also do not ask if you are an owner...seems like they might do a better tour for owners. We were somewhat disappointed. Dan Jonas

take a tour if you can.

We had a great tour. We were the only ones in our group and we made a point of telling them that we had purchased a boat. We were not rushed and found that the tour focused on our boat model and was very informative

Call in Advance - great tours

We called the Hunter Factory during the time our 340 was under construction. They did a great job and were able to show us the 340 in the middle of its production. Only complaint was from our 6 year old grand daughter who said the cabin (in the midst of cabinets being installed) was a mess . . . . They allowed me to take pictures and video of the boat and plant. Visitation during construction seems to be common - had a friend see his 42 Tayana under construction in Twiwan . . . But do call ahead for a private tour . . . and do mention you own a Hunter, or have one on order, or whatever as they will taylor the tour to your boat, or interest.

I think the tours vary...

according to when you happen to be there and who gives the tours. I went around the plant once with the district sales manager who was very nice and tried to be very responsive to my questions (which were many). I went around a second time with Joe from the warranty dept. which was more satisfying for my technical questions. I think you have to ask for what you want and they will try to help you as best as they can at the time. They knew that at the time I was planing to sent my deposit for a boat upon returning home. Maybe that helped, but they were very nice. Hope this helps, Joe C. in NC '01 H260 Windward Passage

Great time

When we had just traded our H280 for a H380 we toured the factory. There were two couples in the lobby, us and another couple who has never sailed but were thinking about buying a 240(new or used boat in that size range) I mentioned to the receptionist that we were interested in seeing the 380 line specifically, and we had a great time. We climbed all over the boats in the line, saw everything from hull moulds, the final wash station in great detail. It was an eye opening experience, and the folks at Hunter couldn't have been nicer. I must admit I called Eddie Breedan, head of Hunter's Customer Service Dept. ahead of time to tell them we were coming. Though he was out of town at the time, Eddie made sure Greg met us in the lobby, spoke to us before and after the tour, and generally made sure we got the A+ tour we were expecting. All in all a mandatory tour if your within a 200 mile radius, you get to see the insides of your boat from their perspective which is far different than ours as owners. Bob Knott H380 Hull#506
