Hunter e36 Hybrid Question

Hunter e36 Hybrid Ventura
I recently acquired a 2012 Hunter e36 Hybrid with an Elco electric motor and a Fischer Panda 7.5 kw genset. It doesn't have a sacrificial zinc on the prop shaft, and no usual mounting point for one. Does anyone know what the factory set up was on this unique model?

What an interesting question. I can't wait to read some of the responses from them that knows. Elco has a good reputation. I'm wondering if maybe the prop is a composite material and doesn't need an anode.

I just thought of another option,

There are anodes that affix to the end of the prop shaft.

Right! Electricity is electricity and so I'm thinking that you need an anode someplace or anytime you plug in at a marina you will have problems.

Will, that's exactly it! I revisited the survey and it says (1) Shaft streamline type, and (1) Propeller nut type. Thank you for chiming in!

I understand that it is possible to put a charge into a shaft, while plugged into a marina power supply, that gives up electrons, just as a zinc anode might. Basically you can create an electrical anode that does what a chemical anode does. No changing sacrificed zincs, no worries about degrading contact.

Most sailboats are hybrid, besides the sails they have a diesel auxiliary or a gas outboard. Is that factory designation?

Hello Benny17441,
Yes, that is the factory designation...Hunter e36 Hybrid. They started with the Hunter 27, and then expanded to the e36 from 2011 - 2013, when Hunter was acquired by Marlow. Apparently, the Elco electric motor option was (and possibly still is) available as an auxiliary power option from the factory.
