I've been pushing my luck by pulling my H26 without a spare tire. When I bought it (used) there wasn't one included. Was considering going to a junk yard, and picking up a used rim to mount a new tire on, trying to save $$ where ever I can. Do any of you knowledgable types have any ideas on what size I might be looking for, i.e. What car/truck might use the same size rim? Thanks, as always, for the help.

trailer tire

Do not skimp on a trailer tire or you are begging for trouble. The same tire and rim can be purchased through Hunter or through a large tire facility who might have the rim and tire in stock. If not, advise on the tire and the lug pattern for the rim and they can get it for you. I recall Sam/s sells tires. Try there. Crazy Dave

Oh, my aging spare

Crazy Dave, or other knowledgable types, Any suggestions on how to retard the aging of rubber on trailer tires. I had replace a set with lots of tread due to deteriation of the rubber. Jim Kolstoe

tire

Jim; It is called dry rot with age. Do not take a chance on tires because you could blow out in one place with some difficulty. Try a 28 on a trailer in the middle of Miami before rush hour. That was not funny tying up mainstreet. Crazy Dave

Try West Marine

West marine sells rim and tire combos for most trailers. I think they are around $99 dollars. You might also try a Farm & Fleet store, as they sell tires for anything that rolls. I woukd guess the nearest one to Downers grove would be in Rockford. Mike Pajewski H26 "Loon"

Rims & Tires

T J, You did not mention the size of the rims you need but if it is a Magic-Tilt like my double axle trailer for my H22, then you are talking about a 5-bolt on 4.5" bolt circle rim in a 13" size. While the pattern matches a car hub pattern, you will not find it in a 5 bolt type in a 13" rim. Best bet is to try a dealer in trailers and/or RVs, or go to either of these two companies: 1. Champion Trailers @1-800-229-6690 or www.championtrailers.com 2. Northern Tool & Equipment @ 1-800-533-5545 or www.northerntool.com Both sell rims of different styles with tires mounted or bare rims or just tires. Don't forget to check the load rating on the tire sidewall. Mine are "ST175/80D13C" tires. Jim if you have tires dry-rotting, get some tire covers from an RV store or from a place like "J.C. Whitney". Also use "Armorall" or "Son of a Gun" sray on both sides of the tires. Dry rot is from sunlight damage mostly over the years the trailer sits outside.
